Who’d have thought, back in March, that the Pirates could fill out a lineup card on the seventh of August in which Josh Harrison would lead everyone in batting average, home runs and, uh, All-Star selections?
Or that first and third base, the power positions, would produce a paltry 26 home runs and 100 RBIs for an offense that’s been the most efficient in the National League?
Or that the rotation would be led in Ws by Grapefruit League tragedy Edinson Volquez at 9-7?
Or that the bullpen, even with Mark Melancon and Tony Watson excelling, would rank second in the National League with 18 blown saves?
