CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- Evgeni Malkin and Nick Bonino returned to practice with the Penguins today at the Lemieux Sports Complex and, according to a source, both will rejoin the lineup for the Saturday home game against the Jets, barring any setbacks.

They will not play tomorrow in Boston, Mike Sullivan announced, but the coach sounded encouraged by their progress in this hourlong session, during which both wore yellow non-contact sweaters but otherwise appeared uninhibited.

"Obviously, it's a big step for them to join the team," Sullivan said. "I thought both of them looked strong. So they're that much closer."

Ben Lovejoy missed practice because of an upper-body injury that's expected to keep him out for the long term, Sullivan confirmed. Our Josh Yohe reported yesterday that would be the prognosis. Sullivan offered no additional detail, pending further testing.
