Rangers' rapid strikes sink Penguins, 4-2

In a span of 18 seconds, the Penguins found out the hard way that the Rangers aren't about to fold in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, with New York's Keith Yandle and Derick Brassard scoring rapid-fire goals late in the second period and eventually prevailing, 4-2, in Game 2 Saturday afternoon at Consol Energy Center.

That evened the series at a game apiece. Game 3 is Tuesday at Madison Square Garden.

Phil Kessel had given the Penguins a 1-0 lead earlier in the second on a tic-tac-toe beauty -- he'd wind up scoring both of his team's goals -- but the Yandle-Brassard combo was followed four minutes later by a Mats Zuccarello one-timer that put the Rangers up, 3-1. And 39 seconds into the third period, Chris Kreider put it away by pouncing on a Trevor Daley giveaway.

Daley was a game-worst minus-4.

The best player on either side was Henrik Lundqvist, whose 29 saves included a Bryan Rust breakaway and roughly a dozen other point-blank chances by the Penguins. Lundqvist was right back in the crease after a teammate's stick to the eye knocked him out of Game 1.

Jeff Zatkoff, the starter again in place of Marc-Andre Fleury, made 24 saves.
