What just might have been the most awkward, all-over-the-place playoff game I've ever covered deserves an equally awkward, all-over-the-place column, right?

OK, good, so buckle up, because any attempt by anyone to describe the Penguins' 3-1 loss to the Lightning in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference final is bound to be bumpy:

• What the heck was that?

Seriously, all other stuff aside, the star of this circus was still that the home team went from sky-high in eliminating the Capitals to being that flat in every facet of this one. There was no sustained attack, no pushback on defense, blah power play, blah penalty kill, and even Matt Murray couldn't make a meaningful dent.

How did it happen? Hangover?
