SAN JOSE, Calif. — The big bash by the Bay here Sunday night — and well into the wee hours on Monday morning, according to a couple of happily hungover sources — brought a buoyant ending for the 49th edition of Pittsburgh's beloved Penguins.
And what of the 50th?
"I just think the future is so bright," Oskar Sundqvist was telling me on the SAP Center ice surface late Sunday night, observing from the perimeter as he did most of these Stanley Cup playoffs. "If you look at all the young players who were a big part of this, guys like me who got a chance to contribute, other guys we have coming ..."
The kid let out a beaming smile.
"I wish next season could start right now."
