The talk of the Eagles' season so far has been about their rookie quarterback, Carson Wentz, but the most cohesive part of their team has been the defense. That unit has allowed the fourth least amount of yards and the second least amount of points, and it has produced the third highest turnover differential.
What has made the Eagles' defense successful has been their aggressiveness: They fly to the ball, work to fill every gap against the run and work to hit the quarterback often. The front seven of the defense is led by one of the better defensive lines and their all pro defensive tackle Fletcher Cox. Their secondary's captain is the highly touted free safety Malcolm Jenkins. Both play X-factor types of roles in the defense as they can change games and attract the attention of opposing offenses. Cox disrupts plays at the line of scrimmage with his strength to dominate offensive linemen and his quickness. Jenkins flies from the positioning of a deep coverage safety to the line of scrimmage just as the ball is snapped in order to blitz the quarterback or stop the run.
