Bryant expects to play against Colts

After a one-game banishment to the bench, Martavis Bryant was back taking snaps with the Steelers' first-team offense Monday.

Whether or not that means he will play Sunday when the Steelers (6-2) return to action in Indianapolis (3-6) remains to be seen. But it does seem a positive step for Bryant, who was benched by Mike Tomlin for the team's game in Detroit Oct. 29 over some posts he made on social media.

Bryant said he expects to play Sunday against the Colts.

“I’ve been running with the (first team), so I assume I am,” Bryant said Monday as the Steelers held their first practice in preparation for the Colts after being on a bye last week. “But I haven’t been told anything. I’m just going to see what happens, come here on Wednesday and go from there.”

Tomlin was asked after the team's 20-15 win in Detroit whether he was counting on Bryant to help the Steelers in the second half of the season. He simply replied, "I'm not."

Bryant was benched after making disparaging comments regarding teammate JuJu Smith-Schuster on social media after the team's 29-14 win over Cincinnati Oct. 22.

Bryant, who was suspended for the entire 2016 season for violation of the league's substance abuse policy, has 18 catches for 234 yards and one touchdown this season.

Bryant took scout team reps in the week leading up to the game with the Lions.
