The Bengals decided to extend their contract with head coach Marvin Lewis for another two years, as announced by the team earlier today:
Lewis had just finished his 15th season as head coach for the Bengals with a 7-9 record for third place in the AFC North. That makes his lifetime record as head coach 125-112-3. But what will continue to stick out for Lewis' career is his 0-7 record in the playoffs with zero seasons earning a first round bye week.
Lewis' extension comes after the Bengals pulled out a 31-27 upset over the Ravens thanks to a game-winning touchdown catch from Clairton's own Tyler Boyd in the final minute. While the win knocked the Ravens out of the playoffs, it also gave the Bengals back-to-back wins to end the season after it was reported that the Bengals and Lewis mutually agreed to part ways.
The Bengals have finished with a winning record under Lewis in just seven of his fifteen years with the team, and won the division just four times.
