The Steelers took care of some extra housekeeping Friday, signing exclusive rights free agent B.J. Finney to a one-year contract extension.
Finney, the team's top backup at both center and guard last season, joined the team as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2015, spending that season on the team's practice squad. He appeared in 14 games in 2017, making four starts. Finney also saw time as an extra blocking tight end.
Had the Steelers not chosen to re-sign him, Finney would have become an unrestricted free agent next month. Terms of his new deal were not immediately available.
The Steelers now have eight of the nine offensive linemen who spent the 2017 season on their roster under contract for 2018. Chris Hubbard, their swing tackle, is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent March 14.
