CHICAGO — The Pirates and Cubs will have to wait until Tuesday to open Wrigley Field. The 103rd season opener at the ballpark was postponed because of snow Monday, moving first pitch to 2:20 p.m. EST on Tuesday.
It is the third time this season the Pirates had a game postponed. First pitch was moved back one hour Monday as the grounds crew used snowblowers, shovels and even a hose to try to scrape snow and ice off the field and tarp. But the game was postponed altogether with heavy snowfall expected to continue throughout the day.
