CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- At long last, the Penguins know exactly when they'll open their second-round series against the Capitals.
As expected, Game 1 will be Thursday night at 7 p.m at Washington's Capital One Arena and will be broadcast nationally on NBC Sports Network. The rest of the schedule is still to be announced.
Game 2 of the Penguins-Capitals series is likely contingent upon the winner of Wednesday night's first round Game 7 between Toronto and Boston.
The Penguins and Capitals are meeting for the 11th time and third straight year. The Penguins are 9-1 all-time in postseason series against Washington but are 2-8 in series openers against the Capitals. Last year's 3-2 win in Washington was the only time the Penguins have won a Game 1 against the Capitals and gone on to win the Stanley Cup.
