RICHMOND, Va. -- The Penguins' Game 3 vs. Washington in 2009 is kind of an underappreciated moment during that magnificent run. Even at the time we knew the history between these two teams, but this edition of the Capitals hadn't ... well, Capitaled yet, and in Games 1 and 2, they sure seemed hungry, relentless and capable of ending the Penguins' quest to return to the finals and begin writing their own victorious legacy.
Then Kris Letang teed one up.
Oddly enough, the thing I remember most about this game is a postgame shot on the VS. broadcast of a stunned, solitary Capitals fan in the Igloo crowd, staring blankly and mouth agape as euphoric bedlam reigned around him. I like to think the guy is wearing that same expression to this day.
