Six days after winning a second straight Stanley Cup and three days after the confetti was cleaned up off the Boulevard of the Allies, the Penguins had another day of note.
It was June 17 last year when the Penguins submitted the names of nine players -- eight skaters and one goalie -- they opted to protect in the NHL's expansion draft. That list included Sidney Crosby, Patric Hornqvist, Phil Kessel, Evgeni Malkin, Brian Dumoulin, Kris Letang, Olli Maatta, Justin Schultz and Matt Murray.
