Goodbyes are never easy, so let's get that part over with. I'm leaving DKPittsburghSports.com after accepting a position at a metropolitan newspaper not far from Pittsburgh, the details of which I can't disclose until later this week. All I'll say for now is it was going to take a unique opportunity to make me say goodbye to you all after 28 months.
You're all a reason why I joined this website in the first place. This is an online community unlike any I have seen before or since. Anyone who has doubts about that can take a peek at the comments section below any article. Your passion and willingness to engage made this decision all the more difficult. You all made this past baseball season such a treasure, and again, I thank you all for being along for that ride. I hope I was able to provide you with the type of coverage you've grown accustomed to since this site launched.
I'd also be remiss if I didn't thank my awesome coworkers. Again, goodbyes are never easy. I broke the news to Matt Sunday over pizza at Smallman Galley in the Strip District. The conversation with Dali was even more difficult. I've known Dale for more than five years, while I've grown close with most of the staff. These people all lent a hand during this baseball season and in my previous assignment covering Pitt. Also, I have to thank Jerry Wolper and Bob Maddamma, both of whom are so important to what we do here.
This isn't a permanent goodbye to those fine people. I'll be back in Pittsburgh for the next professional beat I'll be covering, and it's also easy to stay in touch. Don't worry, Taylor is remaining with the site. These people all had a hand in me becoming the reporter I am today. The past two-plus years have brought the most exciting opportunities of my career and for that I am grateful to Dejan and Dali for taking a chance on me.
I'm thrilled for what's next. Again, it was going to require the perfect fit for me to leave this city and, quite frankly, this community. Thank you all for reading and all the thoughtful comments over the years. I'll be announcing my destination on social media sometime this week, and I hope you all somehow stay in touch. Heck, I'd love it if you kept reading my work, too. Oh, and keep reading here, of course. You've helped build something special.
Until next time, so long.
