RICHMOND, Va. -- The Thanksgiving Eve game is one of my favorite Penguins traditions, and it is always a great way to kick off the long holiday weekend … despite the fact those games only result in a win about half the time, considering the Penguins' overall record of 22-17-6.
I was fortunate enough to be in the building for one of those six overtime losses, against these same Blues in 2011. Sidney Crosby had returned to the lineup two days earlier after his long recovery from his concussion-like symptoms and lit up the Islanders in dramatic fashion, and while the Penguins did manage to overcome a lethargic start and tie it 2-2 late in the third, they couldn’t match the excitement of the previous game, as Alex Pietrangelo scored the overtime winner.
