Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore took issue with Steelers receiver Antonio Brown after Sunday’s game, telling BostonSportsJournal.com that Brown was “super dirty.”
The two, who were matched up for most of the game Sunday afternoon at Heinz Field, were involved in a third-quarter dustup that saw them square off. Gilmore could be seen getting up in Brown’s face, and after the game, he explained what happened.
“It was dirty, what he did. He grabbed my helmet, put me on the ground,” explained the soft-spoken Gilmore. “Super dirty.”
Neither player was flagged for what happened — maybe the only time all afternoon where a penalty flag wasn’t tossed. The Patriots were called for 14 penalties on the afternoon. It was the most since they were hit with 15 in a 2014 Week 2 win over the Vikings.
“We got a lot of flags,” Gilmore said. “They were calling it close the whole game.”
Gilmore was not matched up exclusively on Brown all day, but the Pittsburgh receiver finished the game with four catches for 49 yards and a touchdown.
