MICHAEL FELIZ - MATT SUNDAY / DKPS

BRADENTON, Fla. -- The Pirates optioned right-handers Michael Feliz and Clay Holmes to Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday.

Feliz gave up runs in each of his last five Grapefruit League outings. Overall, he allowed eight runs in 12 innings.

Holmes gave up four runs in 10 innings.

A total of 36 players remain in camp, including 17 pitchers, four catchers, seven infielders and eight outfielders.

PERROTTO’S VIEW

The Gerrit Cole trade is looking worse by the day.

Joe Musgrove has the potential to be an above-average starting pitcher and Jason Martin, who will begin the season in Triple-A Indianapolis’ outfield, could be a solid major-leaguer. However, Feliz and Colin Moran are looking like busts.

Holmes might have found a home in the bullpen. He seems more effective in shorter stints and his starting background should allow him to pitch multiple innings if needed.
