RICHMOND, Va. -- It’s been fun watching Josh Bell’s all-star season thus far, and though I’ve enjoyed the comparisons, nobody, but nobody, could mash the ball like Wilver Dornel Stargell.
His record homer in Philadelphia, set just months into the Vet's existence, stood for more than 30 years and outlived the structure itself. More amazing still is his blast at Dodger Stadium, never equaled in 57 years of play at that ballpark.
