DENVER -- Clint Hurdle was in a mood before Saturday night's Game 3 showdown vs. the Rockies at Coors Field.
A great mood, that is.
Besides coming off back-to-back wins — the second of which put Hurdle's club in similarly bright spirits — the Pirates have now won six of their last eight. Add in the fact that coming to Denver is a homecoming of sorts for Hurdle — he served as the Rockies' hitting coach from 1997 - 2002, then as manager from 2002 - 2009 — the smiles flowed early and often.
Throughout the session, Hurdle discussed the Pirates' recent acquisition of Wei-Chung Wang and what that move ultimately meant for Gregory Polanco's season. He also broke down a unique dynamic and parallel between Steven Brault and Mitch Keller he's helped facilitate throughout this season, Colin Moran's progression this season and much more.
Kick back and enjoy this one. You might even find yourself smiling along.
