Vance McDonald strode through the Steelers' locker room in sweatpants on this Saturday at the Rooney Complex, and that might be his attire Monday night, as well.
McDonald missed a third consecutive practice, the last of the week, because of a shoulder injury and was listed as doubtful on the week's final official injury report in advance of this upcoming game with the Bengals at Heinz Field. Those two factors -- Mike Tomlin prefers to see a game participant practice at least once in the week -- almost surely will keep him out and allow for newly acquired Nick Vannett to start at tight end.
McDonald was hurt last Sunday in the 24-20 loss to the 49ers in Santa Clara, Calif. Tomlin said at his press conference Wednesday that he'll leave open the possibility McDonald wouldn't miss a game, which would explain the 'doubtful' listing as opposed to 'out.'
Also out are Vince Williams (hamstring), Anthony Chickillo (foot) and Rosie Nix (knee), all of whom were also out against the 49ers. I spoke with Williams, and he told me he hopes to return to action next week.
The full report:

The Bengals have ruled out wide receiver A.J. Green (ankle), offensive lineman Cordy Glenn (concussion) and defensive linemen Kerry Wynn (concussion) and Ryan Glasgow (thigh). Defensive end Carl Lawson (hamstring) is doubtful.
