Steelers linebacker Anthony Chickillo - MATT SUNDAY / DKPS

All charges stemming from a domestic violence incident two weeks ago involving Steelers linebacker Anthony Chickillo were dropped on Wednesday following a hearing in Uniontown.

The charges -- simple assault, criminal mischief  and harassment -- stemmed from an argument involving Chickillo and girlfriend, Alysha Newman, that allegedly became physical while the two were staying at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Fayette County during the Steelers' bye week.

State police were called to the couple's room following the alleged altercation.

Chickillo was placed on the Commissioner's Exempt List by the NFL following the incident, which remains under investigation by the league. He is not permitted to practice or partake in other team activities until the league investigation is completed.

With Chickillo on the exempt list, the Steelers signed linebacker Jayrone Eliott to take his place on the roster.

Chickillo, 26, has been with the Steelers since they selected him in the sixth round of the 2015 draft. He has appeared in three games this season, recording three tackles and a half sack.
