A lot of focus this week in Pittsburgh is going to be on fines and appeals coming out of the team's 21-7 loss last Thursday night in Cleveland, but those won't be the only appeals dealing with the Steelers.
According to an ESPN report, the Steelers are appealing the $75,000 fine handed down to them three weeks ago by the NFL for failure to list Ben Roethlisberger's elbow injury on their final report prior to playing the Seahawks in Week 2. Roethlisberger left that game against the Seahawks at halftime of that game against Seattle and has since had season-ending surgery to repair issues with his elbow.
Several teammates have since admitted Roethlisberger's elbow had been bothering him following the Steelers' season-opening loss against the Patriots in New England.
Roethlisberger was given Wednesday off from practice in the week leading up to the game against the Seahawks, but it was listed as "not injury related." But it has not been an uncommon practice for Mike Tomlin to give Roethlisberger the day off on from Wednesday practices in recent years.
That will likely be the point of the Steelers' argument with the league during the appeals process.
The $75,000 fine handed down to the Steelers was the first of two levied on the team in recent weeks. The Steelers and Browns were both fined $250,000 as organizations for the on-field fight that took place in the closing moments of their game in Cleveland last Thursday night.
The Steelers are not expected to appeal that fine.
