The Penguins, who have lost so many players -- so many key players -- so often during the first two months of this season, are about to get a major infusion of talent.
Mike Sullivan announced that winger Bryan Rust, sidelined for the past week because of an injury sustained during a game-day skate in Columbus last Friday, and Justin Schultz, who missed the past seven games because of an unspecified lower-body injury, will be in the lineup when the Penguins face the Coyotes tonight at 7:08 at PPG Paints Arena.
Defenseman Jack Johnson, who did not play in their 3-0 victory against St. Louis Wednesday because of illness, also will be available after Sullivan, during a late-afternoon meeting with reporters, pronounced him to be "fine."
Whoever is in the Penguins' lineup will be playing in front of goalie Tristan Jarry, who will make his sixth start in the past seven games.
That means Matt Murray will be the presumed starter when the Penguins visit Detroit Saturday at 7:08 p.m.
Tonight's game will be Jarry's first-ever against Arizona. He is 6-4 this season, with one shutout, a 2.02 goals-against average and .936 save percentage.
He is scheduled to be opposed in goal tonight by Antti Raanta.
Darcy Kuemper, who has established himself as Arizona's go-to goalie, played in a 3-1 victory in Philadelphia Thursday night and is believed to be suffering from some flu-like symptoms.
