You've probably seen the video of Ben Roethlisberger casually tossing a football a couple times now. This one, for the uninformed:
Well, Le'Veon Bell saw it, too. And he immediately took to Twitter to wish Roethlisberger well with his recovery from elbow surgery:
Not to be outdone, Antonio Brown followed up with this:
This from Brown comes on the heels of a recent apology to Roethlisberger, where he said, "I never realized how good I had it," during his time with the Steelers.
Brown and Bell, of course, enjoyed their most productive years in the NFL with Roethlisberger feeding them the ball. Bell left the Steelers voluntarily after sitting out the 2018 season, turning down a long-term offer from the team in favor of a four-year, $52.5 million deal with the Jets. At the time he left the Steelers, Bell averaged 128.9 scrimmage yards per game, the most in NFL history by any player who appeared in at least 50 games.
With the Jets, however, things were not quite as smooth for Bell. He missed one game due to illness and posted 789 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns alongside 461 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown in 15 games. Compared to his 2017 campaign with the Steelers, in which he rushed for 1,291 yards and gathered 655 yards through the air for 11 combined touchdowns, the Jets did not exactly get Bell's best.
With his latest tweet, is Bell simply wishing Roethlisberger a speedy recovery or is he, like Brown, realizing the grass isn't always (gang) greener?
My money's on the former, but ya gotta admit: That picture at the top of this article looks kinda cool, right?
