Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald -- MATT SUNDAY / DKPS

INDIANAPOLIS -- Steelers president Art Rooney II has made no secret the past few years that he would like for his team to play a game somewhere in Mexico. That won't happen in 2020.

The NFL announced Friday the Cardinals will host the league's game in Mexico this year against an opponent that has yet to be named. But given that the Steelers don't play Arizona this season, it obviously won't be them. The two teams met in Arizona during the 2019 season.

The league also has announced who will host games in London this season, with the Jaguars getting two and the Dolphins and Falcons hosting the other two games.

The Steelers do play the Jaguars on the road this season, but Jacksonville has already announced it won't play its game game the Steelers overseas.

The Steelers haven't played a regular season international game since playing the Vikings at Wembley Stadium in London in 2013.

They did play a game in Mexico City in the 2000 preseason, losing to the Colts in an American Bowl game, 24-23.

The Steelers are one of the most popular NFL teams in Mexico and have a Spanish broadcast team that does play-by-play and analysis from all of their games.
