Wanna watch Rod Woodson struggle at something for once?
Well, he's got you covered (zing!). Woodson recently acquired one of Paqui's newer, hotter chips, the Black Reaper, to try the One-Chip Challenge — and he posted the video to his Twitter for all to enjoy.
For the uninitiated, Paqui's One-Chip Challenge is exactly as it sounds: Try to eat one chip. Just one. Thing is ... it's a ridiculously hot chip. A quick trip around Google tells me this Black Reaper chip, loaded up with seasonings courtesy of Carolina Reaper peppers, clocks in somewhere around 1.5 - 1.9 million Scoville Heat Units (SHU), the accepted scale for measuring spiciness.
Frank's Red Hot, for a quick comparison, is around 450 SHU. Sriracha is somewhere between 1,000 and 3,000. So yeah. This chip is vicious.
Just ask Mr. Woodson:
All the bread and water and milk on earth can't save him. But he shouldn't feel bad: Pretty much nobody gets through this challenge without sacrificing a piece of their mind and body in the process.
In November 2017, the Steelers' locker room tackled Paqui's challenge and similarly struggled:
The chip normally costs $6.99 if you wanted to try this on your own, but it's currently sold out on Paqui's site. Amazon, meanwhile, has them from resellers for $38 per chip.
Exactly how bored are you?
