The NFL is still working out the details for their re-opening process as teams prepare for training camps in the month of July. Different facets of the re-opening include safety of players, timing of camps and length of the preseason. But in the month of June, the NFL provided some clarity on what teams can do to wrap up their virtual offseason programs.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, teams can extend their online programs for another two weeks, ending June 26, or they can end after this week.
The choice is solely on the team, and teams like the Bears have already stated they are cutting their virtual programs short.
A side bar to Pelissero's report is how there will be no in-person minicamp this month. There were rumors of potential rookie minicamps, or even quarterback camps, to help get players get comfortable before training camp begins.
According to the report, while these early workouts might still happen, they won't be happening in June. In the meantime, the NFL and NFLPA have a lot of work to do to figure out what the next phase of the re-opening process will look like. Coaches and staff are already back in the building, but how they will get a 90-man roster back, while being safe, is another issue.
Expect more news on this in the coming weeks, and we will have all the updates right here at DKPittsburghSports.com.
