Because several new staff members and an all-new state-of-the-art app aren't enough, we're about to add to our big June boom here ... with the return of DK Sports Radio!
Beginning Monday!
It'll start with every-weekday, early-morning podcasts I'll host myself, roughly a half-hour in length and, as with all the radio I've ever done, wholly unscripted. So if you've ever liked -- or even politely tolerated -- the radio I've done for our partners at 105.9 the X, it'll be a lot like that. Just having fun, cutting loose on whatever crosses the mind, not worrying where it falls.
The following week, Jeff Hartman, who brings a ton of podcasting experience, will host a staff-based afternoon program, joined for each by a co-worker here. They'll be team-specific, unlike mine, but also a half-hour each.
Mine will be up before sunrise for your commute to work, Jeff's around 3 p.m. for your commute home.
From there ... well, that's up to you, and I mean that. We've put a lot into this plan, and it's a lot healthier if we can start out with a foundation of 2,500 followers to our three main podcasting channels, displayed in the links below:
I put this notice out on Twitter and Facebook, and we gained 1,000 of those, so we're left still needing 1,500. We've had readers admonishing us forever and ever -- me in particular -- for not having podcasts. Well, here we are. And all we need from you in return is a free, easy tap of a bleeping button.
Depending where you hear your podcasts -- Apple, Google, Spotify, wherever -- we're already there. Either tap one of the three links above or just do a search on your podcast provider for 'DK Pittsburgh Sports.' From there, follow our channel. And if you're a little more tech-savvy than that, make sure our podcasts are set to automatically download. It allows advertisers to take us seriously and, thus, to monetize the process. All without you having to drop a dime.
Seriously pumped for this.
