The Penguins have signed Sidney Crosby a few times since he turned pro in 2005.
Now, he's returned the favor.
Crosby and some teammates sent handwritten notes to select season-ticket holders who have renewed their plans.
The letters went to 66 -- a number that presumably was not chosen at random -- such fans.
One of Crosby's notes reads as follows:
“Chuck – The Pittsburgh Penguins thank you for renewing your season tickets. Especially during these trying times, we as players appreciate your support. Thanks!”
The letters are the latest show of appreciation by the Penguins to their season-ticket holders. Players and coaches called more than 500 of them and sponsors in April to inquire about their well-being during the coronavirus pandemic.
“The great thing is that our players recognize how important our season ticket holders are to our success as an organization,” Chad Slencak, the Penguins' vice president of ticketing, said in a statement released by the team.
“They’ve always been a huge part of our outreach, but their efforts have been especially meaningful during these last four months. We talked about it together and just thought that some hand-written notes would go a long way to show these fans how much we appreciate their support.”
