Pitt basketball saw an injury to its freshman guard, Femi Odukale, after an accident.
First reported by Christopher Peak of Panther-Lair.com, Odukale was taken to a hospital after a moped accident and treated with surgery.
The injury should keep him sidelined from practicing or working out with Jeff Capel's basketball program for several weeks. However with COVID-19 concerns, the season could be pushed back several months, giving him time to recover from the injury and maybe be ready for the start of the season.
Odukale played his senior high school season at Commonwealth Academy in Massachusetts, averaging 17.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 1.2 blocks and 2.7 steals per game, with a 52 field goal percentage, including 39 percent from three-point range.
Coming out of high school, Odukale ranked as the best recruit from Massachusetts according to the New England Recruiting Report. He also ranked as the 145th recruit by Rivals and the 170th recruit by 247Sports.
"Femi displayed outstanding versatility, talent, toughness and competitiveness during an outstanding post-grad season," Capel said when Pitt recruited Odukale. "We are excited to add him to our recruiting class and look forward to having him in our program. He is mentally and physically mature and will have an opportunity to come in and make an immediate impact next season."
