Steelers guard David DeCastro (66) -- STEELERS

Steelers guard David DeCastro left Friday night's controlled scrimmage early after suffering an undisclosed injury during the hour-long practice.

Mike Tomlin did not say what happened to DeCastro, but the five-time Pro Bowl and three-time All-Pro guard had missed practice all of last week with a calf injury and had just come back to practice earlier this week.

"He's in the process of being evaluated," Tomlin said. "I'll have some information the next time we get together. Other than that, not a lot to report. We have some guys working their way back from what could be described as day-to-day things."

A first-round draft pick out of Stanford in 2012, DeCastro has appeared in 112 games, making 111 starts. He has missed just three games since 2014.

While DeCastro was out, rookie guard Kevin Dotson, a fourth-round pick out of Louisiana, was back at practice for the first time. Dotson had missed the past week with a knee injury. Offensive tackle Chuks Okorafor, who had been out with a groin injury earlier this week, also was back.

Safety Terrell Edmunds, who is dealing with a knee injury, also sat out practice. He has been out since last Sunday.

The Steelers held the scrimmage at Heinz Field, but Tomlin said the team treated it as a road game, standing on the visiting sideline and entering stadium through the visiting tunnel.
