The idea has been picking up momentum for about a week now. Since right around the time the Penguins' qualifying-round implosion against Montreal was complete, actually.

At this point, it appears to be moving faster than an avalanche. Or the Avalanche, if you prefer.

The Penguins, the thinking goes, should get younger.

It has been suggested on this siteJim Rutherford has endorsed that concept. Mike Sullivan has seconded it. And frankly, few, if any, people -- inside or outside of the the organization -- seem to disagree.

After all, what's not to like about adding new, fresh faces, guys who'd bring energy and enthusiasm that could spread through the locker room faster than a virus?

What nobody has suggested is how it can be accomplished.

Perhaps because it can't be.
