'Hey, how you feelin'?'
Fairly common question, I'd venture to say. And it's maybe my favorite to pose in a clubhouse setting, especially as it relates to baseball. Because it's such a grind. Because even days off really aren't days off, with all the real-life catching up that has to occur.
Still, the answers from the athletes and all involved, invariably, ranges somewhere between all right and awesome. Every day is a new day and all that.
Not so Friday.
For whatever reason, most everyone beforehand suggested feeling fatigued, and I was so struck by it that I took special note of it. Maybe it was from all that running of the bases in Detroit. Maybe it was the midseason blues or blahs. Maybe it was five extra-inning games in the past three weeks. Maybe it was the two-hour, eight-minute rain delay.
