RICHMOND, Va. — Man, do I miss the old Big East.
Having gone to college at Kent State, there was never much locally to get excited about (save for one admittedly incredible season, almost a decade after I’d left), so I gravitated toward Pitt, and the games they played vs. conference opponents never seemed to disappoint. Well into the 2000s, I followed the team, and those incredible seasons in 2009 and 2010 always ended too soon. I was honestly kind of excited to see Pitt move at first, having lived in North Carolina for a few years and enjoying ACC basketball, figuring their addition would make a good thing even better. Sadly, that hasn’t been the case. The electricity and rivalries simply aren’t there.
I’m hoping Pitt finds a way out of the current doldrums. Truly, there is nowhere to go but up!
