Data doesn’t add up for perimeter Penguins following 5-2 flattening by Maple Leafs

TORONTO -- If we're being honest, the Penguins have been guilty of winning some games that maybe they didn't deserve.

Well, can't say that was the case Saturday night.

Hockey usually rewards possession and shot attempts, so they probably deserved a better fate than their 5-2 loss to the Maple Leafs at the Air Canada Centre, and not just because of Brian Dumoulin's non-goal on a controversial goalie interference. They also had more shots than Toronto, 40-26, and more attempts, 57-38, in addition to spending 62 percent of the game with the puck.
