The Atlanta Braves, another play at the plate, and another salty, stinging wound for Bucs fans. I listened to this entire debacle on the radio, and as a result, its egregiousness was lost on me in the moment … it wasn’t until the next morning that the true ridiculousness of the call was apparent. Yeah, they probably wouldn’t have won the division, but it’s not often that a team has so stark a benchmark of “before" and “after" as did the Pirates of 2011.
As much as this game stung, it did lead to this Twitter exchange between David Greene, host of NPR’s Morning Edition and Pittsburgh sports fan, and myself.
