Two Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Daniel Sprong and Casey DeSmith, were named to the Atlantic Division roster for the 2018 AHL All-Star Classic.

The AHL's All-Star weekend will take place later this month in Utica, N.Y.

The Eastern Conference and Western Conference will face each other in seven events in a skills competition on Jan. 28. The following night, the four divisions will participate in a round-robin tournament featuring six games of 3-on-3 play at 10 minutes each. The two leading divisions will then participate in a six-minute game also played at 3-on-3 to determine the winner.

Sprong racked up 18 goals and 10 assists in his 29 games before being recalled to Pittsburgh.

In DeSmith's 17 games in Wilkes-Barre, he's posted a 2.72 goals against average and a .911 save percentage. This is the fourth season in a row that the Penguins have had a goaltender named to the All-Star Classic, following Jeff ZatkoffMatt Murray and Tristan Jarry.

If either player is in Pittsburgh at the end of the month, he'll be replaced by another Atlantic Division player.

Additionally, Cody Wydo was announced on Thursday as the Wheeling Nailers' lone representative in the ECHL All-Star Classic. The game will take place on Jan. 15 in Indianapolis, and will also feature a 3-on-3 tournament between the four divisions. Wydo's 33 points (14 goals, 19 assists) lead the Nailers in scoring. Wydo was recalled to Wilkes-Barre on Jan. 1.
