Jordy Bellerive. -- PITTSBURGH PENGUINS

Penguins prospect Jordy Bellerive is being treated in a hospital for injuries sustained in an "incident", according to a statement released by his WHL team, the Lethbridge Hurricanes:

Bellerive's teammate Ryan Vandervlis and former teammate Matt Alfaro were also injured.

Liam Nixon of Global Lethbridge reported that the three were injured from a fire while attending a bachelor party in Calgary, and that one of the three players is in critical condition:

Canadian police issued a statement on the cause of the injuries:

The Penguins released a statement Sunday morning saying that Bellerive "is in good spirits and expected to make a full recovery," and has been in contact with Bill Guerin.

The University of Calgary Dinos released a statement on their player that was injured, Matt Alfaro:

The Lethbridge Hurricanes released a second statement on Monday with further clarifications:

"Alfaro, Bellerive and Vandervlis suffered various injuries resulting from an incident involving a campfire on the evening of Friday, June 15th. All three are currently being treated for their injuries at a hospital in Calgary.

It has been reported that the campfire occurred during a bachelor party. These reports are inaccurate. The campfire occurred at the family home of WHL Alumnus Tyler Wong the evening prior to a planned day of golf.

Alfaro and Bellerive are currently in stable condition. Vandervlis has been placed in a medically-induced coma and is in critical condition."

The Penguins signed Bellerive, 19, to a three-year entry-level contract last September after Bellerive impressed at the team's prospect development camp and the 2017 Prospects Challenge in Buffalo.

Bellerive, a center, had a great 2017-18 season for Lethbridge, and led the team in scoring by a margin of almost 30 points. He scored 46 goals and 46 assists in 71 games, and tallied another nine goals and 16 assists in 16 postseason games. His Lethbridge Hurricanes were eliminated in the third round of the WHL playoffs this year.
