The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have signed Penn State forward Chase Berger to an AHL-level contract for the 2019-20 season, the team announced Thursday.
Berger, 24, just wrapped up his senior season with Penn State, where he was teammates with Penguins prospect Nikita Pavlychev for three years. Berger and Pavlychev each had 14 goals and 15 assists in 39 games this season. Berger, 6-feet and 195 pounds, amassed 51 goals and 67 assists in 154 games through his four years at Penn State.
The Penguins had previously invited Berger to their 2017 development camp. Berger had also attended the Red Wings development camp in 2016.
Berger will report to Wilkes-Barre this season on an amateur tryout contract.
