Dominik Simon scored his second goal in as many games in the Czech Republic's 8-0 win over Italy on Friday.
Simon's goal was the Czech's sixth of the game, the first of the third period:
Linemates Jakub Voracek and Michael Frolik earned the assists.
It was Simon's second point of the game. He recorded a secondary assist on Frolik's second-period goal. Simon played 15:17 in the win, recording three shots on goal and a plus-3 rating.
Simon's two-point performance brings his total to seven points (two goals, five assists) in five tournament games.
Around the rest of the tournament:
• Norway defeated Austria, 5-3. Norwegian forward Christian Bull, who plays for Storhamar of the GET-ligaen league, scored a hat trick.
• Slovakia earned a 6-3 win over France. Richard Panik led the Slovakians with a goal and two assists.
• Finland shut out Great Britain, 5-0. The Finns outshot the Brits by a 49-12 margin.
Saturday is a busy day in the tournament. Matt Murray and Jared McCann's Canadian squad will play Germany. Teddy Blueger and Evgeni Malkin will face off when Latvia plays Russia. Patric Hornqvist, Marcus Pettersson, and the Swedes will play Switzerland. Team USA will play Denmark, Great Britain will play Slovakia, and Italy will play Norway.
