Jared McCann scored his first goal of the 2019 IIHF World Championship tournament in Canada's 5-0 win over Denmark on Monday in Slovakia.
McCann scored Canada's second goal of the game 6:06 into the first period, assisted by Kyle Turris.
McCann now has one goal and two assists in six games.
McCann recorded three shots and a plus-1 rating in 10:31.
Matt Murray got the day off. Carter Hart started for Canada, with Mackenzie Blackwood backing up.
• Sweden defeated Latvia, 5-4. Patric Hornqvist scored a third period tally, Sweden's fourth goal of the game. The goal was Hornqvist's only point and shot on goal in 15:34 in the win.
Marcus Pettersson registered two shots on goal in 8:16.

• Great Britain defeated France in overtime, 4-3, avoiding relegation to the Division I A tournament for 2020. 28-year-old Ben Davies, who plays for the Guildford Flames of the top British league, was the hero:

• Italy defeated Austria in a huge 4-3 shootout win. Entering the game, Italy had only scored one goal in the entire tournament. With the win, Italy avoided relegation for the 2020 tournament.

Tomorrow is the final day of preliminary play in the tournament and all Penguins players are in action. Dominik Simon and the Czechs will play Switzerland. Teddy Blueger and Latvia will play Norway. Murray, McCann, and Team Canada will face Team USA. Evgeni Malkin will go head-to-head with Hornqvist and Pettersson when Russia plays Sweden. Finland will play Germany, and Slovakia will play Denmark.
