Penguins announce development camp schedule

The Penguins' annual prospect development camp will be held June 26-28 in Cranberry, the Penguins announced on Tuesday.

All on-ice sessions will be open to the public, free of charge.

The prospects will be divided into two groups for the first two days of practice. Goalies from Group A will begin working at 1 p.m., while the rest of Group A takes the ice at 1:30 p.m. The Group B goalies will begin at 2:45 p.m., and the Group B practice will begin at 3:15 p.m. and run until 4 p.m.

The following day will focus on skills work with skills development coach Ty Hennes. The Team A goalies take the ice at 9:30 a.m., and the rest of Team A joins at 10 a.m. The Team B goalies begin at 10:30 a.m., and the rest of Team B joins at 11 a.m.

Camp will conclude on June 28 with a three-on-three tournament with prospects divided into four teams competing for the Michel Briere Cup. Morning skates will be at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and the tournament will begin at 7 p.m.

In addition to the on-ice work, prospects will take part in off-ice team-building activities and presentations aimed at teaching them how to be professional hockey players.

The full roster will be announced early next week, after the draft. The roster will feature Penguins draft picks, but also undrafted free agents out of college and junior hockey who could potentially earn a contract out of camp. Adam JohnsonJordy BelleriveSam Miletic, and Alex D'Orio were all undrafted free agents who signed with the Penguins in recent years after attending a development camp.
