CRANBERRY, Pa -- The Rimouski Oceanic, Sidney Crosby's former QMJHL team, will retire Crosby's No. 87 this season.

The Oceanic will raise No. 87 to the rafters prior to the team's home opener on Sept. 27. It'll be the start of the Oceanic's 25th anniversary season.

"Sidney is a great man, the best hockey player in the world, and still loves our city, our team, and our fans. 25 years is a big moment in our history, and there is no better manner than this to begin that celebration," Oceanic president Eric Boucher said in a team release.

Crosby spent two years in Rimouski, from 2003-05. He amassed 120 goals and 183 assists in 121 regular season games over his two seasons with the team. He ranks second all-time for the Oceanic in points and assists, trailing only Brad Richards. He ranks fourth in franchise history in goals, and his 2.504 points per game remains unbeaten.
