Jaromir Jagr is still scoring at 47 years old.
Rytíři Kladno, of which Jagr is the owner and the first-line right wing, is back in the top Czech men's league this season after being promoted from the second-tier league last spring.
Jagr is the oldest player on his team by a margin of seven years. His linemate Ladislav Zikmund is just 24, born four years after Jagr won the Stanley Cup for the first time. There are players on Kladno who were toddlers when Jagr was traded to the Capitals.
The point is: He's old.
And yet, Kladno can still rely on Jagr to add some energy to the team.
In Sunday's matchup with HC Olomouc, Kladno was trailing 3-0 in the second period. At 4:25 into the period, Jagr started the comeback with a snipe:
It was Jagr's second goal of the season after previously scoring in his regular season debut with Kladno.
Kladno scored two more unanswered goals to force overtime, and then Jagr's linemate Zikmund scored the game-winner in overtime. It was Kladno's second win in its fourth regular season game since being promoted to the top Czech league.
"It didn't look good for us," Kladno head coach David Cermak said after the game. "But (Jagr's) goal put us back in the game, we started to be active again and we were creating chances in the attack zone."
"We made mistakes," Jagr said after the win. "It is hard to go from the second to the first league and avoid mistakes. Clicking your finger doesn't change it."
