Poulin, Legare, Addison to play in Canada Russia series

The QMJHL and WHL announced their rosters for the annual CIBC Canada Russia Series on Wednesday, and three Penguins prospects are participating.

The CIBC Canada Russia series is an annual exhibition tournament held in November between a team of Russian junior players and all-star teams from each of the three leagues comprising the CHL, the WHL, OHL, and QMJHL.

Forwards Samuel Poulin and Nathan Legare, the Penguins' first- and third-round picks in the 2019 draft, will play for Team QMJHL in the tournament, and defenseman Calen Addison, the Penguins' second-round pick in 2018, will play for Team WHL.

The tournament functions as an early tryout for players looking to make Team Canada's roster for the World Junior Championship. Dale Hunter, the coach of the Canadian junior national team, will serve as coach for Team QMJHL in the tournament.

The schedule for the tournament is as follows, with Games 1 and 2 being between Russia and Team QMJHL, Games 3 and 4 between Russia and Team OHL, and Games 5 and 6 between Russia and Team WHL:

Game 1 – Monday November 4 at Saint John, NB
Game 2 – Tuesday November 5 at Moncton, NB
Game 3 – Thursday November 7 at Kitchener, ON
Game 4 – Monday November 11 at London, ON
Game 5 – Wednesday November 13 at Saskatoon, SK
Game 6 – Thursday November 14 at Prince Albert, SK
