The Penguins have activated Patric Hornqvist from injured reserve, Jim Rutherford announced on Saturday prior to the Penguins' 7:08 p.m. game against the Predators at PPG Paints Arena.
Mike Sullivan confirmed at his 5 p.m. pregame availability that Hornqvist will return to the Penguins' lineup on Saturday.
In a corresponding move, the Penguins re-assigned forward Thomas Di Pauli to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Hornqvist resumed skating with the team in Friday's morning skate in Nashville, but skated on a fifth line with Di Pauli and Mark Recchi. After Friday's skate, Mike Sullivan said Hornqvist was getting "close."
“He’s obviously joined the team in a full capacity, he’s been skating for a while now, he’s had contact," Sullivan said. "He’s getting close to being a coach’s decision.”
