Jake Guentzel. - MATT SUNDAY / DKPS

Jake Guentzel will represent the Penguins at the 2020 All-Star Game, the NHL announced Monday afternoon. Guentzel is the only Penguins player to be selected for the All-Star Game.

This will be Guentzel's first appearance in the game. He currently leads the Penguins in scoring with 19 goals and 21 assists in 38 games.

Guentzel is the 37th player in Penguins franchise history to be named to an All-Star team.

The NHL will still hold its "Last Man In" voting, with one additional player being named to each division's roster. Each team has a designated player who will be entered in the Last Man In voting. The Penguins' entrant is Kris Letang.

The goaltenders for the Metropolitan Division are Braden Holtby and Joonas Korpisalo, rather than the league-leader in shutouts, save percentage, and goals-against average, Tristan Jarry. However, Korpisalo was injured in last night's Blue Jackets loss, and is expected to be out "weeks."

The remaining players on the Metropolitan roster are the Devils' Kyle Palmieri, Islanders' Mathew Barzal, Rangers' Artemi Panarin, Flyers' Travis Konecny, Capitals' Alex Ovechkin and John Carlson, Hurricanes' Dougie Hamilton, and the Blue Jackets' Seth Jones. Ovechkin has already said that he will not attend the All-Star Game, so he will eventually be replaced.

The All-Star weekend will be held Jan. 24 and 25 in St. Louis, and the game will follow the same format as past years: a three-game tournament of three-on-three hockey.
