Anthony Angello. -- MATT SUNDAY / DKPS

Anthony Angello and Sam Lafferty were assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Monday, Jim Rutherford announced on Monday.

The moves come after the Penguins acquired forwards Patrick MarleauConor Sheary, and Evan Rodrigues earlier in the day, and sent Dominik Kahun to the Sabres.

The moves are actual re-assignments, not just paper moves to retain their AHL eligibility for the remainder of the season. A player (unless injured) has to be on an AHL roster at the time of the deadline to be eligible to play in the AHL for the remainder of the regular season and postseason. The re-assignments were submitted to the league prior to the 3 p.m. deadline.

Zach Trotman was assigned to Wilkes-Barre on paper and recalled after the deadline to keep his AHL eligibility for the remainder of the season. The Penguins were able to do so without putting him on waivers because he has not yet played in 10 games or spent 30 days on the NHL roster since last clearing.
