The website PledgeIt is hosting a fundraiser for coronavirus relief where athletes and other people in sports donate signed memorabilia. Fans then pledge $25 or more and get entered into a raffle for the item of their choosing.
Proceeds will go to local nonprofits "working in areas identified as having high numbers of affected individuals and with the most vulnerable populations."
As of Monday night, 73 athletes, retired athletes, and people in broadcasting have donated signed items to the fund. Five of those donations have come from Penguins players.
Bryan Rust has donated a signed jersey, Teddy Blueger has donated both a signed jersey and signed stick, Matt Murray has donated a signed jersey, Dominik Simon has donated a signed stick, and Jake Guentzel has donated a signed jersey.
Other signed items that have Pittsburgh connections are a Bill Cowher signed Steelers hat and a Marc-Andre Fleury signed jersey.
All items, including contributions from other athletes in the NHL, MLB, WNBA, NBA, NWSL, and more can be found here.
