The Penguins have signed undrafted free agent defenseman Cam Lee to an entry-level contract, Jim Rutherford announced on Tuesday.
The contract is a two-year deal that begins in the 2020-21 season.
"Cam is a good-skating, offensive-minded defenseman that fits the current style of play in today's NHL," Rutherford said in a team release. "This signing adds more young depth at defense for us. We're excited to have Cam as a member of the Penguins organization."
Lee tweeted that signing with the Penguins was a "dream come true."
Lee, 23, just finished his senior season at Western Michigan University. He scored three goals and 18 assists in 26 games as a senior, leading all Western Michigan defensemen in scoring. He's 6-foot, 190 pounds and is a left-handed shot.
Lee's uncle is former NHL goaltender Jean-Sébastien Giguère. His cousin Alexandre Fortin is a forward in the Blackhawks system and played 24 NHL games in 2018-19.
I'll have more on Lee in this week's Drive.
